KR 01 - CANYON I

Built by hand in layers of mineral texture, this sculptural work is defined by two stone-like planes that frame an abstract canyon, revealing a recessed metallic passage between them. The warm, aged-gold interior follows an imperfect path through the surface—part geological fissure, part horizon—revealing depth where the composition appears to have been split apart.

Subtle tonal variation and visible hand-work give the mineral surface its character, shifting gently as light moves across the piece. In contrast, the recessed metallic element catches light from within, creating a changing relationship between matte and reflective, solid and void, earth and mineral.

Each piece is individually formed and finished by hand, allowing variations in texture, edges, surface markings, and metallic patina to remain part of the work rather than being concealed. Sculpted on a lightweight stretched canvas base, ready to hang.
